Just what you need! Alex Gerrard gives husband Steven a book of footballer manager's secrets ahead of his big Arsenal clash

By Sarah Bull and Joe Strange

Steven Gerrard has gone the extra mile in his preparation for Liverpool's top of the table clash with Arsenal on Saturday - by reading up on the secrets behind Arsene Wenger's success.
The Liverpool midfielder was seen being presented with a copy of Mike Carson's book The Manager: Inside The Minds Of Football's Leaders by wife Alex as they enjoyed a romantic day out on Friday.
Alex handed her spouse a copy of the tome, which features chapters from 30 managers including Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger
revealing details about their lives in professional football, with Steven looking delighted with the gift.

Wearing jeans and a ribbed black jumper, Steven, 33, pulled in his wife and mother of his three children for a tender embrace and kiss as they stood in front of their shiny red Overfinch car - believed to be a new addition to their vehicle collection.

Steven's new hardback book also contains a chapter from former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who recently described Gerrard in his new autobiography as not being a 'top, top player'.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers also helped out on the ambitious project, offering his thoughts on how to pursue a career under pressure.
Pointers from Rodgers include: 'My parents died young, so there have been lots of personal challenges as well as professional.
'That inner steel, that resolve, that perseverance, has served me well since my time at Reading. I know it’s there.'
Other top bosses to have opened up include Chelsea's Jose Mourinho, England chief Roy Hodgson and Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Gerrard, who travelled to London with his Liverpool team-mates on Friday, will also have an opportunity to read about what goes on behind the scenes at the Emirates in a section contributed by Wenger.
Wenger says in the book of maintaining his intensity both on and off the pitch: 'What keeps me going is my love for the game, for doing the job I do and for football. I have that internal desire to be as good as I can, refusing to be average.

'The biggest pressure you have is to drive home on a Saturday night having lost a game and to think that some people will cry because you lost that game.
'That is the biggest pressure, to let people down and I feel that the longer you stay at a club, the bigger the responsibility becomes.'
Liverpool currently sit third in the Premier League, just two points behind Arsenal. A win during he match on Saturday evening will propel them to the top of the pile, providing Chelsea fail to win at Newcastle.
