A video allegedly showing an Irish man fighting off a mob of Istanbul shopkeepers who attacked him with sticks and chairs in the middle of a busy street has gone viral in Turkey.
The footage shows the man, dressed in white shorts and t-shirt, walking into a small shop in Istanbul's Aksaray district and opening a fridge, causing dozens of water-bottles to fall out.
Seconds later, the enraged owner of the shop emerges and starts attacking the man, and the situation soon escalates into a full-on street brawl.

Although it is not clear if any further words were exchanged to cause such a violent reaction from the shopkeeper, a number of people initially try to step in between the two men.
The man, a Kuwait-born Irish citizen, soon disarms the shopkeeper, seen in the video wearing a green-and-white striped polo shirt, and the fight spills out into the street.
CCTV shows how a mob of shopkeepers gangs up on the Irishman, attacking him with sticks and plastic chairs.

However, the man in white takes on the entire gang, armed with nothing but his fists, and at one point floors one of his attackers with a single punch.
Although a number of people attempt to calm the fight, the brawl sees both the lone man and the mob exchange a number of kicks and punches.
At one point one of the locals whacks the man over the three men surround the man, beating him with sticks and a plastic stool.

After this, a fourth man attacks, using what appears to be an advertising board and hitting the 'Irishman' over the head.
Despite being the victim in the situation, some of the footage shows the 'Irishman' backing away from the fight before returning to dish out more punches to members of the shopkeepers' mob.
Turkish news outlet Today's Zaman, also claims that the man was a professional boxer from Ireland, but would not divulge how they had become aware of the man's nationality or pro-fighter qualifications.
