Emirates appoints new country manager for Tanzania

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: March 17, 2015 
EMIRATES, a global connector of people and places, has appointed Husain Alsafi, as its new country manager for Tanzania.

Prior to his new posting, Mr Alsafi was Emirates’ Country Manager for Zambia. With more than 10 years of experience in the aviation industry, Mr Alsafi began his airline career with Emirates in 2007 when he joined the carrier as a commercial management trainee.

His career progression saw him appointed to the position of Country Manager, Yemen in 2009, a position he held until December 2012. In January 2013, Mr Alsafi moved to Algeria to set up a new operation which he ran for 11 months before moving to Zambia in December 2013 as the Country Manager.

“I’m delighted to have been appointed as the new country manager for Tanzania and I’m looking forward to working with the local team, as well as our trade partners in further developing the Emirates business in the market. 

My focus in the market will be to continue providing our customers with the best possible service and value for money, as we connect them to more than 140 destinations across the world,” Mr Alsafi said.

Congratulating Alsafi on his new appointment, Orhan Abbas, Emirates Senior Vice President for Latin America, Central and Southern Africa, said, “We want to thank Husain for his hard work in Zambia and wish him all the best in his new position as Emirates’ Country Manager for Tanzania. I am convinced that with his experience and personal commitment, he will continue to build on the success and growth of the company in Tanzania.”

Alsafi holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering management and higher diploma in aircraft engineering – both from Higher Colleges of Technology, United Arab Emirates.

Emirates operates double daily flights between Dar es Salaam and Dubai and onward to more than 140 destinations in more than 80 countries across six continents.
