One of Princess Diana's nieces is to become a godparent to Princess Charlotte, one of just five close friends and relatives afforded the honour.
The Honourable Laura Fellowes, the daughter of one of Diana's elder sisters, Jane, will this afternoon join William's pals James Meade and Thomas van Straubenzee at St Mary Magdalene Church at Sandringham for the baptism alongside the Queen and other senior members of the Royal Family.
But Kate's sister Pippa missed out on being a royal godparent for a second time, as did brother James and William's brother Prince Harry, who will be absent for today's service.
The other godparents are Sophie Carter, a friend of Kate's, and her cousin, Adam Middleton, the son of Michael's brother, Richard. He works for Mayfair firm Manchester Square Partners and advises senior business executives.
The decision to ask Laura to become their daughter's godmother is another touching tribute to William's late mother, whose name Charlotte Elizabeth Diana bears.
Diana was also christened in the same Norfolk country church that the Royal Family will gather at today.
As previously revealed by the Daily Mail, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will walk from Sandringham House to church with their children, Charlotte and her elder brother, Prince George - making it the first time they have been seen in public as a family of four.

No members of the royal family were among the godparents this time. For George, the Duke and Duchess asked the Princess Royal's daughter Zara Phillips.
William and Kate were always expected to pick close friends for Charlotte's godparents, but they were also thought likely to include at least one member of the Windsor clan.

The five godparents and their partners will be among the select few at this afternoon's christening at the church, which is around a ten minute drive from the Cambridges' country mansion, Anmer Hall, and where the Royal family mark Christmas every year with a special service.
Fellow guests at the intimate service will be Charlotte's great-grandparents The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, Kate's parents Michael and Carole Middleton, as well as Pippa and James.
Senior royals the Duke of York, who is abroad, Princess Anne and the Earl of Wessex are missing from the congregation just as they were from George's baptism.
Although the ceremony, conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury the Most Rev Justin Welby, is private, the Duke and Duchess have agreed to allow members of the public into the area near the church known as the paddock to see the royals as they make their way to and from the venue.

DIANA, THE GRANDMOTHER WHO COULDN'T BE THERE, REMEMBERED AT CHARLOTTE’S CHRISTENING
Members of the Royal family, including the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, will also be in attendance as the nine-week-old princess is baptised at the Church of St Mary Magdalene in Sandringham (pictured)
Charlotte and George's full-time live-in nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo will be on hand to help but Prince Harry, will miss the event, having already left to spend three months in Africa.
Esteemed fashion photographer Mario Testino has been asked by William and Kate to take the official photographs after the service.
Like her brother did at his christening in October 2013, Princess Charlotte, who was born on May 2, will wear the hand made replica of the Royal Christening Robe, made by the Queen's dressmaker, Angela Kelly.
And she will be baptised today using the ornate Lily Font, which was specially commissioned by Queen Victoria to prevent her family being tarnished by association with the illegitimate children of one of her predecessors, and is usually on show as part of the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London.

Following Royal tradition, the water used for Princess Charlotte’s christening will be holy water from the River Jordan, where it is said Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist.
Following the service, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will give a tea at Sandringham House.
Guests will be served slices of christening cake, which is a tier taken from The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding cake.
George’s seven godparents were Zara Phillips, Oliver Baker, who attended St Andrews University with William and Kate; Hugh Grosvenor, a family friend who is the son of the Duke of Westminster; Julia Samuel, who was a close friend of Diana, Princess of Wales; William van Cutsem; Emilia Jardine-Paterson who went to Marlborough College with Kate; and the Duke and Duchess’s former private secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton.
