Back in 2010 they were five normal boys, with hopes and dreams of becoming successful singers.
But not even the One Direction boys could have imagined the type of life they would be living just three years later, as they have now splashed out a whopping $27,000 for seven nights in one of LA's most lavish properties.
The enourmous mansion, shaped like the front half of a ship, will house the boys as they round off the last week of the North American leg of their Take Me Home tour in style.
Ship shape! One Direction have spent $27,000 for seven night in a luxury LA mansion shaped lie the front of a cruise liner
The lucky lads, who have been jetting all over the world over the last few months as part of their sell-out tour, have clearly decided to treat themselves during their last week in Los Angeles.
So while they're not on stage at the Staples Center for their last few concerts before heading to Australia, the British boys will be living it up in the exclusive pad which boasts breathtaking views across the city.
The pricey mansion, perched atop the Hollywood Hills, has been designed to look like as ship with large windows facing out over LA, with a huge 46ft swimming pool at the front.
Lucky lads: The 1D boys will spend the last seven day in Los Angeles staying in the rented pad, before taking a break
Stunning the space: The sprawling 11,000 square foot property boast an amazing view of LA from the Hollywood Hills
They've come far: The boys, who were complete unknowns just three years ago, are now staying in one of LA's most exclusive properties
Unique design: The mansion has been built to look like the front half of a ship, the novelty factor perhaps attracting the boys
Proving just how much money they are now raking in, just three years after being on the ITV singing contest, the youngsters are hardly being frugal, preferring to live it up in unrivalled opulence.
Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson will all spent the week in the sprawling house that has six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, spread over six floors.
Perfect for the pop band's needs, the plush pad is situated within a gated community and has two large hot tubs on two large balconies, should they feel the need to treat themselves to a little relaxation time.
With 11,000 square feet of living space just for the five boys and two large kitchens, they might not even have to see each other at all during the week, if they feel the urge for a little alone time.
Decedent: The polished floor and palmed trees in the living space give the house a slight 1980s feel
Where the magic happens? One bedroom has a hard wooden floor and paintings of naked figures on the walls
What a view: One of the bedrooms has panoramic windows and a lavish four-poster bed
The decision to rent the lavish home, which is nestled far away from the city, may have something to do with the fact that the boys have been causing quite a stir while in the US.
Cinemas showing the documentary 1D: This Is Us, have reportedly been asked to step up their security after having to deal with stampedes of fans, even though the boys aren't there in person.
Who'll be captain? The house boasts two large balcony areas with a hot tub on each for the boys to use
Secluded: The mammoth house is situated within a gated community so the boys will be protected at all times
Time for a tipple: One of the bars in the house seems fully stocked, should the boys choose to have a party one night
Carefully picked: All of the interior decoration looked like it had been carefully selected ahead of their arrival
The band have been looking far from exhausted despite the fact that they've been spending almost all of their time on the road recently, giving their usual high-energy performances at their gigs.
And they haven't got long left to go as after six weeks off, they will flying to Australia for the last leg of the world tour, finishing off in Melbourne on October 30.
Food for thought: Should the boys fancy whipping up some tasty treats, the house had two large kitchens
LA living: Despite the fact that only the five of them will be staying there, the house sleeps 14
Who sleeps here? One room was a little more feminine with flower prints on the walls and a purple bedspread
Treating themselves: The boys are clearly in the mood to splash the cash to celebrate coming to the end of the North American leg
