Awania running for president Rafsanjani Iran


Iran's former president, Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, has registered to run for the presidency in elections next month.

Rafsanjani master 78-year-old had a few minutes to register his name before the expiry time of the sending application.

A BBC correspondent says the Lord Rafsanjani is a leading opponent of extremists who are close to Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Chief mediator in talks on the nuclear program of Iran, Saeed Jalili, has proposed to his name, too.

Outgoing president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has shatumika two terms and can not run for the presidency again.

The presidential candidates are filtered and special councils, Guardians Council, before being allowed to stand in elections
