Wait for me! Incredible moment Ryanair passenger jumps off boarding bridge and runs across tarmac to try and catch his plane

  • A worker captured the footage at Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport
  • Man missed boarding call and managed to get past staff in the terminal
  • He leaped eight to 10ft from a jet bridge with two bags in his hands
  • Man sprinted onto the apron and tried to flag down the departing plane

In a major security breach, the tardy traveller got past staff at the gate and jumped off the jet bridge with two bags in his hands - landing on the tarmac eight to 10ft below - after the Boeing 737 had already pulled back from the terminal.
The foolish holidaymaker sprinted across the apron to try and stop the plane from taking off without him, but was intercepted by stunned ground crew members at Madrid's main international airport.

Footage of the bizarre incident was recorded by a ground crew member at Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport and posted on Facebook by the Workers' Commissions trade union.
The passenger did not arrive on time and missed the budget flight, and somehow managed to evade various security procedures to get onto the tarmac, the union wrote.
Video shows the man nervously sitting on the edge of the jet bridge with his bags in tow before leaping off.
After landing on his feet he waves his hand in an attempt to flag down the plane and briefly speaks to a worker in a vehicle used to pull luggage carts.

The man runs towards his plane - putting himself in an incredibly dangerous situation as aircraft taxi to and from runways - but is stopped by two employees.
It was unclear whether the man was facing any charges for entering a restricted area.
A Ryanair spokesman called it a 'security breach' and deferred comment to airport police.
The union wrote online: 'This is how passengers in Madrid behave when they don't arrive in time for their flights.
'This particular passenger was missing a Ryanair flight and, unbelievably, skipped several security protocols established by [operator] AENA in their airports.
'We're talking about level 4 security protocols! Not even with all those protocols we can feel safe...'
MailOnline Travel has contacted the airport's operator, the Workers' Commissions union and police for comment.
Shocked viewers flooded the Workers' Commissions union's Facebook page with comments.
Some suggested the man should be charged by Spanish police and banned from flying, while others criticised security measures at the airport.
One viewer wrote: 'This guy should have been arrested by the security forces and identified so he can not only travel with [Ryanair] but any airline.'
Another viewer wrote: 'It's not the fault of the passenger who bypassed the security controls. It is the responsibility of those in charge of the controls.'
A member of the union wrote on Facebook that he or she has witnessed 10 incidents in seven years where passengers have forced open a gate's doors.

RYANAIR CUSTOMERS DETAINED FOR GOING ONTO TARMAC

This isn't the first time a Ryanair passenger has risked their life - and arrest - by running onto an airport apron to try and catch a flight.
In June 2015, an Italian couple was fined more than £1,600 after they evaded security and ran onto the tarmac at Malta's international airport.
Passengers Matteo Clementi, 26, and Enrica Apollonio, 23, got stuck in traffic on their way to airport and missed the final boarding call.
When they arrived the gate was closed and they were not allowed to board the Ryanair flight back to Italy.
But that didn't stop them from forcing open an emergency fire door and running onto the apron, where they tried to wave down the pilots.
The plane's engines were running and the stairs had been moved out of the way so the aircraft could taxi to the runway.
The pair was caught by security and handed over to police. Apollonio spent her 23rd birthday in a jail cell, instead of celebrating it back home with family.

Days earlier, a groom on his stag-do on the Spanish island of Majorca caused a security scare at Palma de Mallorca Airport when he ran onto the tarmac as part of a dare.
The group was waiting outside the terminal for a bus to transport them to a Ryanair plane which was being prepared for a flight to Birmingham.
The man ran onto the tarmac and was detained by staff, who handed him over to police.
Video shows a man being led away as his friends laugh in the background, with one shouting: 'You're going to jail!'
As a result the groom was not allowed to board the flight home with his mates.
