Selling like hot cakes! Beyonce celebrates the success of her FIFTH number one album with custom made treat

She shocked both fans and record industry insiders when she released her fifth studio album Beyonce last week.

But it seems the risky move paid off as Beyonce celebrated her fifth number one album on Thursday night at an arcade in New York, where the star posed with a custom made cake with the artwork styled across it.
Billboard revealed this week that the singer's self-titled album will open at number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

Beyonce arrived at Dave & Buster's arcade in New York, following her concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn earlier in the night.
Guests played arcade games, enjoyed drinks from own Beyonce cups, and were also able to snack on Beyonce themed cupcakes.
Among those at the event were stylist Ty Hunter, designer Alexander Wang songwriter J. Cole and rapper Drake, who features on the track 'Mine' from the new album.
Drake addressed the crowd during the celebrations, saying: 'I just came out tonight to let you know congratulations to each and every one of you that worked on this s***, for real. And of course to the queen, the utmost congratulations.'

Shaped like a vinyl record, Beyonce posed confidently over the cake that resembled the album - which has sold 617,000 copies in the US so far.
Releasing the album without any prior warning hasn't been a hit with everyone, with major US retailer Target now refusing to stock the physical copy of the album.

The singer had made an exclusive deal with iTunes for the first week of sale, which seems to have riled retailer Target.

But Beyonce won't be having too many sleepless nights over the decision, as her album has become the fastest-selling record in iTunes history.
The record enjoyed a total of 828,773 downloads in just three days.

Beyonce's own first-week sales record was also broken, after her 2006 second record B'day sold 541,000 copies in seven days.

The 31-year-old said she was inspired by Michael Jackson's Thriller video premiere in 1983, which is why she made such a 'visual' record.
She said: 'I miss that immersive experience. Now people only listen to a few seconds of a song on their iPods and they don't really invest in the whole experience.

'It's all about the single, and the hype. I felt like, I don't want anybody to get the message when my record is coming out.

'I just want this to come out when it's ready and from me to my fans.'

The album was codenamed Lily at her record label, Columbia, to avoid the news getting out, and even key creative staff were kept in the dark about when it would be released.
