As Harry-mania hits Australia, FEMAIL reveals the startling similarities between Prince Harry and his pop star namesake

Antipodeans succumbed to Harry-mania as the prince and the pop star toured Australia at the same time.

As Prince Harry embarked on his debut tour of Australia at the weekend, young fans gathered in their thousands to greet him in Sydney.

Meanwhile, Harry Styles joined his band One Direction for a series of concerts and public appearances, driving Aussie teens wild.

The prince, who's representing the Queen on his first official visit to the country, laughed and joked with the public as he arrived in Sydney. He was greeted with screams and shouts of 'give us a wave Harry' from scores of adoring female fans.

At the same time, hundreds of die-hard 'Directioners' gathered near the backstage door of the city's Allphones Arena on Saturday before the boys' performance. One was seen holding a sign saying 'We've waited 525 days', while another read: 'You're proof that not all heroes wear capes'.

The five-piece band are due to remain down under for a month as part of their Where We Are world tour, while Prince Harry has already left the country, and attended a black tie fundraising event in Dubai last night.
